Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • Initial submission: The article has been formatted to be easy to read with page numbers, enumerated sections, and figures (most templates from other publishers will be fine). The file format is PDF, ODT or DOC.
  • Accepted Submission: Article text file is in ODT OpenOffice/LibreOffice, Microsoft Word, or LaTeX file format using one of our templates.
  • Where available, permanent URLs (DOI) or IPFS hashes for the references have been provided.
  • Illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

Author Guidelines

The articles published in all our journals are related to all areas of science. Think loud is for your scientific opinions and discussions. As such, articles may take one position in the discussions and are not expected to be neutral (other than in overviews), but your arguments must be scientifically sound and well founded in your references. The review is based on the technical quality, not on the opinion presented.

Getting Started

For the initial evaluation, we do not require you to use a specific template, but we ask you to make the initial submission as PDF. We only request that your submission is easy to read, follows the principles of Open Science, and has page numbers, section numbers and figure numbers so that the reviewers can easily refer to parts in it, i.e. "first paragraph on side 3", or "section 3" or "figure 2(a)". If your work is accepted, you will find it easy to re-format it to our templates. For publication, we require source formats like Markdown, ODT, DOC or LaTeX (see below).

Previously Publication

Moringa SP only considers articles for submission that have not been published previously by any other publisher (preprint archives or collaborative working platforms are not publishers and are fine). In fact, we will not consider submissions that are currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. The editor has final authority on all matters relating to the publications.

We do understand that in many cases the authors wish to reproduce some of the content of other publications and even some degree of recycling of text in sections such as antecedents, introduction, methods, are to some extent accepted. However, this case is not allowed in sections such as results and conclusions. In doubt please cite your original work! For Moringa SP it is important to ensure that research papers are only published once.

Conference presentations or the publication of unpublished manuscripts on prepress servers such as arXiv, bioRxiv, and PeerJ PrePrints are not considered prior publication and are therefore permitted.

Language of Publications

All Moringa articles should be written in standard English, in a language that must be clear and unambiguous. We also accept articles written in Spanish and German. We offer our clients a translation service into any of this languages as well. If you are interested do not hesitate to contact us asking for our prices!

Policies & Ethics

Articles should indicate the names of the participants in the research process and the process of writing the article, as well as other possible contributions from other authors to the final result.

Articles are not reviewed based on the results, but strictly on the basis of the methods and the quality of the writing. We will not judge your topic or the result you present as long as it fits into the journal, is ethical and follows Open Science principles: The reader must be able to re-evaluate what you describe in your work, so relevant data and tools (like scripts or references to programmes) should be included.

Publication of Articles

All our journals are only published online. Research articles are usually accompanied by additional material which can be in figures, videos, tables, data sets, etc. Publishing of this additional material up to 10MB is included in the publication fees of Moringa SP. In case of publications with a larger amount of additional material, it either can be stored and referenced by the same authors in openly accessible databases recognized by them, under same or similar open license as the article, or on our servers for an additional fee (please inquire prices).

Likewise, we are committed to the authenticity of the files that are trusted by authors worldwide and we guarantee this through Blockchain technology.

Misconduct & Redundant Publication

Moringa SP relates misconduct in the area of research to the fabrication, falsification and/or plagiarism of any part of the manuscript process. In the event that the publisher is concerned about an article, it will contact the authors in order to clarify these uncertainties. In the case of published plagiarism or double publication, Moringa will make an announcement in the journals involved explaining the situation and may retract the publication.

Formatting Guidelines Once Your Submission Has Been Accepted

Your article has been accepted? Congratulations. Now we work with you to adjust it to our format templates.

Format & Style

Manuscript files can be sent in as Markdown text files, ODF Text document (OpenOffice), Microsoft Word document, or LaTeX document.  Moringa SP does not have any restrictions on word count, a number of figures, or amount of supporting information.

We provide a set of templates in all these formats for you on our templates page. Please do not change the settings of these templates yourself. We try to cater for online-reading as well as offline-printing. Our templates have been designed to make that process as smooth as possible and optimizations for one mode or the other might lead to problems. However, if you are facing any problems please advice the layout editors that help you after your work has been accepted.

Footnotes, Abbreviations, References & Other Supporting Elements

Footnotes are accepted. If the authors are using abbreviations they should be defined and at the end of the article. For references style please use common styles for your field of research.

If in your article you are presenting figures, diagrams or tables, they should be inserted after the paragraph in which they have been cited. Do not optimize for printing! In our system, you have the possibility to upload separately any of these elements or any other extra essential supporting files needed for the article (smaller than 10 MB in size). Please always keep in mind that as an Author you should take care to maximize the accessibility and reusability of the data and all this information needs to be part of the process of peer review.

In case you need to send a large data sets to us, they may be deposited in a public repository. For examples see this great list provided by PLOS on http://journals.plos.org/plosone/s/data-availability#loc-recommended-repositories

Equations

For displaying equations we recommend to use a MathML based editor (available in Open/Libre Office and Microsoft Office) or LaTeX.

Article Structure

The basic structure that we are using in our journals are those accepted by the scientific community: Introduction, Methodology, Results and Discussion or Conclusions (IMRyD). However in the case of this journal we found that this structure is often not adequate for opinion articles. So we propose the following here:

Start Article

  • Title.
  • Author or authors with corresponding affiliations.
  • Abstract (if the article is written in a different language, one additional abstract in English has to be provided).
  • Introduction.

Body Article

  • Arguments that show a clear structure

Conclusion Article (optional)

  • Conclusions.

Supporting Article Information

  • Acknowledgments.
  • References.

With Think Loud we are entering new terrain in the field. Feel free to change the structure according to your needs if you believe you have a good reason to do so or if your article is easier to comprehend with a different structure!
